Musical Auditions and Stage Crew Sign-Ups are now available on Ms. Vombrack’s Website!

This year’s Caruso musical is…….SHREK!  With abundant, over-the-top roles for an expandable cast, there’s a part for everyone in this dazzling adventure story.  Students interested in Stage Crew are also encouraged to sign-up.  Auditions will be December 5th and 6th.  For more information, please visit Ms. Vombrack’s Website.

8th grade girls’ basketball schedule for the week of 11/6/17 – 11/10/17:
Monday, November 6: Practice 4:45 – 6:15 PM
Tuesday, November 7: Practice 3:15 – 4:45 PM
Wednesday, November 8: Practice 6:30 – 7:45 AM
Thursday, November 9: Practice 3:15  – 4:45 PM
Friday, November 10: No School = No Practice

There will be a book club meeting today at lunch in the LC for each grade level. Eat first then come for a quick talk.

The DRONE RACING CLUB will meet during the winter months (November, December, January, and February) each THURSDAY at 6:45 – 7:45 am in the gym at Caruso Middle School. A detailed schedule will be made available at our first meeting, November 2, 2017 @ 6:45 AM, in the gym. Athletes will learn all aspects of the drones including basic aeronautics, mechanics, navigation, and piloting.  The club is open to all three grades.

8th grade girls’ basketball TRYOUTS are scheduled on Thursday, November 2 @ 3:15-4:45 PM and  Friday, November 3 @ 3:15-4:45 PM in the school gym.You must attend both sessions.
Before tryouts (11/2/17), all students interested in participating in any interscholastic athletic activity must have the following forms on file with the school nurse. These forms can be found on the Caruso’s website, under “Athletics”.
Athletic physical form is the IESA “Pre-participation Examination” Form.
A signed Interscholastic Parent Permission and Concussion Information Form.
A signed Extra-Curricular Activities Code of Conduct Form (turned in to the coach)

Philanthropy Club: We are having a book counting session after school if you can stay. We will count books up front from 3-3:30. Meet up front by the office if you can help count books for Bernie’s!

From the people who brought you “Lord of the Onion Rings”, “Harry Potato”, “Modern Ham-ily”, and “Ferris Mustard’s Day Off”, we present “A Tale of Two Soup Cans.” The story of two lonely soup cans waiting for other canned goods, household supplies, and boxed foods to be donated to the Deerfield Food Pantry. You can see the production of “A Tale of Two Soup Cans” up by the front office. Bring in your canned food and household supplies to also star in this production so we can change the name to “A Tale of Many Cans.” We’re waiting for your donation to be a star in this production, so donate today!

Some items needed for the food pantry are:

  • Apple sauce
  • Canned fruit
  • Canned chicken
  • Baking items
  • Oils
  • Cleaning supplies
  • Toiletries
  • Paper towels and toilet paper         

    Anyone interested in helping your community?! Sign up for a volunteer event, “Feed My Starving Children!” Contact Ms. Stahl or Mrs. Cohen for information!

    6th, 7th, and 8th graders, are you interested in Cheerleading but couldn’t attend the informational meeting?  Here is a link to the tentative schedule and the forms you must fill out if you are interested in joining the team!  All forms are due to Ms. Middleton’s room (D-10, next to the Art room) by TODAY: Monday, October 30!

The Cardboard Challenge is coming to Caruso on October 25th-27th. Students, we need your help!! We are looking for donations of cardboard, silver duct tape, and packaging tape. If you are able to share any of those items bring them to the Learning Commons. Thanks a bunch for your help!!!


8th grade girls’ volleyball schedule for the week of 10/16/17:
Monday, October 16: GAME @ Wilmette 4:00 PM – 8th grade plays second
Tuesday, October 17: GAME @ Shepard 3:45 PM – 8th grade plays second
Wednesday, October 18: No Practice
Thursday, October 19: Practice 3:15 – 4:30 PM
Friday, October 20:  Practice 3:15 – 4:30 PM

OPEN GYM for both 7th and 8th grade girls – Friday, October 20th from 6:45 – 7:45 AM, in the gym.  This open gym session is for both 7th and 8th grade grils who wish to try-out for basketball this season. Tryouts for 7th grade girls will be held on 10/25 and 10/27 from 4:30 – 6:15 PM.

Interested in joining Art Club? Come to the informational meeting Tuesday, October 17th (3:15-3:30). Art Club will start October 24th and will run from 3:00-3:45 on Tuesdays after school.

DEBATE CLUB: There is a meeting after school today to discuss the new bills! If you can’t attend, be sure to come to Monday’s regular meeting. The second tournament if November 2. Let’s get ready for another victory 🙂

Philanthropy Club is hosting a Bernie’s Book Bank drive through October 31st. Please bring in children’s new or gently used books that you can donate. Bernie’s Book Bank delivers books to children throughout Chicagoland who don’t have books and are in need of them. There is a bin in the 6th grade hallway outside of Room A6, 7th grade hallway across from Room E-10, and a bin by the main office.. Bring in books for birth-6th grade (no workbooks, textbooks, or resource books).

  • As a healthy reminder please remember that students should not have any cell phones or cameras out during the school day without teacher permission.
