Happy Habit from Project Happiness – self awareness “It’s up to you to create a life that feels good on the inside, not just one that looks good on the outside.”

Please note that coats are not allowed in the classroom unless your teacher has given you special permission due to an unusually cold classroom that day.

Young Authors: Our optional meeting has been moved to Thursday of this week.  The meeting for tomorrow has been canceled. Please see Mrs. Cohen if you have any questions!

8th grade boys’ volleyball try-outs are scheduled for Monday, January 30th @ 3:15 – 4:30 PM and Tuesday, January 31st @ 3:15 – 4:30 PM. You must attend both sessions.

Before Tryouts: All students interested in participating in any interscholastic athletic activity must have the following forms on file with the school nurse  BEFORE January 30, 2017.

  • Athletic physical form is the IESA “Pre-participation Examination” Form.
  • A signed Interscholastic Parent Permission and Concussion Information Form.

COME JOIN THE DEERFIELD SCIENCE CLUB!!!

  • WHO CAN JOIN?The Deerfield Science Club welcomes all students (6th – 8th grade) from Caruso MS and Shepard MS.
  • WHEN DOES THE CLUB MEET? The Deerfield Science Club meets during the second semester, each Friday at 3:30 PM in room C-4 at Caruso Middle School. A detailed schedule will be made available at our first meeting, February 3, 2017.
  • WHAT IS THE OBJECTIVE OF THE DEERFIELD SCIENCE CLUB? The Deerfield Science Club’s objective is to foster an awareness of material science and nanoscience concepts, encourage critical thinking, and problem solving. The club will be using Material Worlds Modules designed by Northwestern University.

**Are you interested in learning leadership while helping create a positive environment at Caruso? If so, Student Council is for you. Join us for an informational meeting on Friday September 9th in the CMA room at 7:30am. Everyone is invited!

 

**Attention all students: a reminder that if you plan to visit our elementary schools you need to make sure to email a teacher in advance to set-up an appointment and enter through the front doors only. Please be sure not to arrive unannounced or enter through a side door during dismissal time. Thank you!

 

**DESTINATION IMAGINATION – If you are interested in signing up for DI stop by B1 – AFTER SCHOOL – Monday, Sept. 12th OR Tuesday, Sept. 13th to find out about DI and when it will be starting. If you have never heard of DI, come and learn what the excitement and all those trophies in the library are all about.You don’t have to come both days. If you can’t make it on either day, send Mr. Jensen an email and let him know of your interest to join DI. If you have a returning team, you should still come by to get signed up.

Tuesday, September 13: Practice 3:15 – 4:30 PM

Wednesday, September 14: Practice 7:00 – 7:45 AM

Thursday, September 15: GAME – Caruso @ Wilmette 4:15 – both teams start at the same time in two different gyms

Friday, September 16: Practice 3:15 – 4:30 PM

**Excellent first 6th Grade Choir (Caruso Singers) rehearsal today!

6th Graders: If you’re still interested/curious what choir is all about, but missed our first rehearsal, come to our rehearsal next Friday at 3:00pm!

Tuesday, September 6: GAME – Springman vs CMS @ 4:15 PM @ Caruso. 8th grade plays second.

Wednesday, September 7: Practice 7:00 – 7:45 AM

Thursday, September 8: Practice 3:15 – 4:30 PM

Friday, September 9: No Practice

 

**Poms will be for all three grade levels this year. Miss Jaksich will be coaching. There will be an informational meeting on Wednesday, September 7th at 7:45 am in room E-5. Email her with any questions.

 

**The fitness club is ready to open for the 2016-2017 school year. Please see any physical education teacher for a sign-up form.
**6th grade students: If you are interested in joining Lunch Buddies Ms. Erbach and Ms. Zajac will be stopping in 6th grade lunch tomorrow with more information. –This year we are working with Jostens for our school yearbook. The yearbook is $25.00 if you order before September 30th. After that, the price will increase. –The first Charisma rehearsal is this Thursday August 25 from 3:30-4:30 at SHEPARD. See you then!
